The LX Authentic 44 sneaker traces directly back to Style 44, one of the first shoes Vans made when it opened in Anaheim in 1966. It began as a simple deck shoe — canvas upper, sticky rubber sole — and quickly became a favourite among Southern California skateboarders in the early ’70s. Today, Vans keeps it fresh by cycling through new palettes and materials, maintaining its relevance across the very subcultures that adopted it.
